Huawei's New WATCH GT 7 and WATCH 6 Just Launched With 21-Day Battery Life — Here's the Smarter Smartwatch Buy Already in Kenya

Huawei used IFA 2026 in Berlin to unveil three new smartwatch families in one go: the WATCH GT 7 series, the WATCH 6 series, and the medical-focused WATCH D3. Between them they promise multi-week battery life, ski and outdoor sport tracking, and blood pressure monitoring good enough to log to a doctor. None of them have official Kenyan pricing yet, so here's what's actually confirmed — and what you can buy in Nairobi today that covers the same ground.

What Huawei just announced

The WATCH GT 7 and WATCH GT 7 Pro are the performance-focused pair, built for runners, cyclists and skiers. Huawei says the 46mm GT 7 and GT 7 Pro can run up to 21 days on a single charge with moderate use, and the GT 7 Pro adds a scratch-resistant ceramic bezel and a titanium alloy frame. New this generation are indoor and outdoor snow-sport tracking (skiing and snowboarding, with automatic run detection even without GPS), Climb Planning and Climb Broadcast for cyclists, and AI-driven workout analysis. Pricing starts at £279.99 for the GT 7 and £379.99 for the GT 7 Pro, with UK orders open from September 2, 2026.

The WATCH 6 and WATCH 6 Pro are the everyday, design-led models, in 42mm/46mm and 43mm/46mm sizes respectively, with eSIM support, Curve Pay for contactless payments, and health tracking across 11 metrics spanning basic, endocrine, cardiovascular and respiratory categories. They land in the UK from September 23, 2026, starting at £399.99 (Pro from £599.99).

The WATCH D3 is the outlier: a medical-grade blood pressure monitor built into the strap, using a mechanical airbag and adaptive algorithm for 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring. It's also £399.99 in the UK, available from September 23, 2026.

What's missing from all three announcements is any word on East African availability or KES pricing — Huawei's UK site is the only confirmed retail channel so far, via the Huawei Store, Amazon, Currys and Argos.

The smarter buy already in Kenya

If you want the rugged, multi-week-battery profile of the WATCH GT 7 without waiting on an import, the Amazfit T-Rex 3 is already stocked in Nairobi. It's built for the same outdoor use case — GPS-tracked runs, hikes and rides — with a case designed to shrug off Nairobi's dust and the odd matatu-stop knock, and it's ready to buy today rather than pre-order from a UK site.

If it's the health-tracking depth of the WATCH 6 series you're after, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 is the closest match already on shelves: continuous heart rate, sleep and stress tracking, an always-on display, and full Wear OS app support, paired through the Galaxy Wearable or Samsung Health app on Android. It comes in four case sizes locally, so you're not locked into one fit.

Kenya angle: buy now vs. wait for an import

Grey-market Huawei watches do eventually show up in River Road and online marketplaces, usually a few months after the UK/China launch and often without a local warranty. Buying the Amazfit or Samsung equivalent from trewrld gets you genuine stock, a Kenyan warranty, and M-Pesa or card payment at checkout — with same-day delivery in Nairobi and 1 to 4 days countrywide, versus an uncertain shipping timeline and import duty on a watch Huawei hasn't even priced for this market yet.

FAQ

Is the Huawei WATCH GT 7 available in Kenya?
Not officially. Huawei has only confirmed UK availability so far (from September 2, 2026 for the GT 7 series), with no announced Kenyan distributor or KES pricing.

What's the difference between the Amazfit T-Rex 3 and the Huawei WATCH GT 7?
Both are rugged, GPS-equipped sports watches aimed at outdoor training. The GT 7 adds Huawei's newer ski-tracking and AI workout analysis features and a longer quoted battery life (up to 21 days), but the T-Rex 3 is in stock in Kenya now at KES 33,000 with no import wait.

Can I pay contactless with these smartwatches in Kenya?
The Huawei WATCH 6 series supports Curve Pay, which isn't yet active for Kenyan banks. The Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 supports Samsung Wallet for NFC tap-to-pay where your bank card supports it, which works at contactless terminals in Nairobi.
